ORLANDO – UCF women's golfer Tunrada Piddon qualified for the 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur following a strong showing on the Mission Inn Resort & Club El Campeón Championship Course Monday.
Piddon shot a 75 (+3) to finish tied for third among 41 golfers in the field to qualify. She birdied hole No. 4 and hole No. 17, firing a 38 (+3) on the front nine and a 37 (E) on the back nine.
Surrounded by an abundance of natural Florida beauty, the El Campeón 18-hole championship course was designed by Chicago-based course architect, George O'Neil and built in 1917 – with further enhancements in 1926 by Charles E. Clarke of Troon, Scotland.
El Campeón is one of the South's oldest golf courses and blends unusual Central Florida elevation changes of more than 85 feet with features of traditional golf design, including spectacular rolling fairways and undulating greens.
The U.S. Women's Amateur will be held Aug. 8-14 at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Washington. Coverage of the event will be broadcast live on Golf Channel.
