ORLANDO – The UCF volleyball team was awarded with the United States Marine Crops American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the ninth year in a row and the 12th time in 13 years on Monday.
The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams at the collegiate and high school level that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. In total, 1,204 teams earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2021 season.
The Knights posted the best GPA amongst UCF women's teams this year with a cumulative GPA of 3.6 for the 2021-22 school year.
UCF was among the nation's top academic-performing programs for the 12th time in program history in 2022. All 12 campaigns have come during the Todd Dagenais era.
The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award is the single largest award offered by quantity of schools, players and coaches honored. Since the 2000-2001 season, the number of recipients has increased every single year but four, while more than doubling the total over the last eight academic years. Since the award's inception in 1993, the amount of award winners has increased from 62 to last year's number of 1,275.
