ORLANDO, Fla. – On Tuesday afternoon, Egor Eroshenko qualified for the USGA Amateur, hosted at Arcola Country Club, in Paramus, N.J. Eroshenko placed second in the USGA Amateur Qualifier at Cypress Lake Golf Club.
The sophomore finished 3-under par for the two rounds, shooting a 71 in round one, before finishing round two, 2-under par. On Monday, Eroshenko birdied three of the final five holes he played to shoot a 71, before playing a bogey-free round on day two to finish 3-under par.
Play for the USGA Amateur will begin on Monday, August 15th – 16th with 36 holes of stroke play competition. The top 64 players after 36 holes of play will begin match play competition on Wednesday, August 17th. Match play will continue through August 20th as the field gets dwindled down to two finalists, playing the 36-hole championship match on Sunday, August 21st.
Winner of the 2022 USGA Amateur will receive a Gold Medal, Custody of the Havemeyer Trophy for one year, Exemption from qualifying for the next 10 U.S. Amateurs, Exemption into the 2023 U.S. Open at The Los Angeles Country Club, Exemption into the 2023 Open Championship, and likely an invitation into the 2023 Master Tournament.
