Sundean Named Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American

TUCSON, Ariz. – On Wednesday morning, Collegiate Baseball announced that Freshman catcher Andrew Sundean was named a Freshman All-American for the 2022 season. Sundean becomes the first UCF Knight to earn Freshman All-American status since Rylan Thomas and Joe Sheridan in 2017.

Sundean burst onto the scene as a true freshman taking over the primary catching role at the midpoint of the season. He posted a .348 average at the plate, scoring 25 runs and collecting 47 hits. His 13 doubles led the team, and his five in the AAC Tournament set a record for the week.

He homered five times and drove in 33 runs in the 43 games he played. His 18 hit by pitches in his first season, ranked sixth in program history and Sundean struck out only 16 times in his 135 at bats.
