ORLANDO – Three UCF men's golfers, both current and former, will vie for a spot in the upcoming 122nd U.S. Open as the trio will compete at various qualifiers around the country on Monday, June 6.
After former Knights Bobby Bai and Connor Arendell, as well as 2021-22 men's golfer Teddy Tetak made it through their respective local qualifiers, the road to the U.S. Open continues with final qualifying, the final stage for U.S. Open hopefuls, which will include 36 holes in one day.
Tetak will be playing his final qualifier in Jupiter, Florida. He tees off at 7:27 a.m. Monday morning at The Club at Admiral's Cove golf course. Full parings and scores from the Jupiter qualifier can be found here.
Tetak was a force for the Knights this past season, averaging a 71.88 scoring total, good for second on the team. The Limbach, Slovakia native was UCF's top finisher at the AAC Championship in April, shooting a team-low 210(-6) to finish tied for seventh. On the year, Tetak posted four top-20 finishes as well as two top-10s and a top-5. He also led UCF in three events to pick up his first career unanimous All-American Athletic Conference nod.
Bai heads to Purchase, New York on Monday and will play at Century Country Club, teeing off at 7:19 a.m. Full pairings and scores from the New York qualifier can be found here.
In his three years in the Black and Gold from 2016-19, Bai brought home three AAC All-Conference honors, including a unanimous selection his junior year. He was the Golf Coaches Association of America Golfer of the Week three times, won three college golf tournaments and helped propel the Knights to eight team titles in that time. He was also a part of an historic UCF team as he helped the Knights to win the NCAA Regional Championship in 2017 and finish 14th at the NCAA National Championship that same year.
Finally, Arendell will be in Rockville, Maryland for his Monday-qualifier. The former Knight is scheduled to tee off at 8:25 a.m. at Woodmont Country Club. Full pairings and scores from the Maryland qualifier can be found here.
In two seasons at UCF, Arendell averaged 73.46 strokes per round after competing in 23 tournaments. The Cape Coral native helped UCF to back-to-back Conference USA titles and two NCAA Regional appearances. He recently played in the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Houston Open, part of the PGA TOUR, from Nov. 11-14, 2021.
