Women's Tennis to Head to Auburn for ITA Kickoff Weekend

Opens in a new window Full Draft Results

ORLANDO – The No. 21 UCF women's tennis team has been selected to travel to Auburn, Alabama in this year's ITA Kickoff Draft as the Knights will face host school No. 14 Auburn as well as No. 17 Arizona State and No. 22 UC Santa Barbra from Jan. 28-29, 2023.

The ITA Kickoff Weekend Draft is when teams from around the country get the opportunity to choose which host site they would prefer to play at during the 2023 ITA Kickoff Weekend. With many factors taken into consideration (travel, opponent, etc.), the Kickoff Weekend draft is always an exciting event that gives Coaches the power to choose where their team plays. With the 15 host sites already determined based on 2022 year-end rankings, the remaining teams were able to choose where they want to play based on year-end finish starting with the No. 16 ranked team and running until all of the spots are filled.

The four teams in the Auburn bracket will look to get out to a hot start and punch their ticket to ITA National Indoors. UCF was ranked at No. 21 in the final public release of 2022 after another successful season under head coach Bryan Koniecko that saw the team collect a 16-8 overall record en route to its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

In the first round of the big dance, the Knights swept Alabama, 4-0 to move to a 6-4 in the NCAA Tournament under head coach Bryan Koniecko.

The team also cracked into the top 10 in the ITA Top-25 Team Poll back in January to earn its highest ranking of the season.

More of the 2022-23 UCF women's tennis schedule is set to be released later this summer.
