ORLANDO – UCF Women's Tennis saw two Knights make the American Athletic Conference All-Conference Team on Thursday as Marie Mattel was a unanimous selection and Evgeniya Levashova joined her on the all-AAC team, the league announced.
Mattel makes her first appearance on The American's All-Conference Team. The Le Plessis-Bouchard, France native was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week three times during the 2022 campaign and was 13-5 overall, with a 2-2 record against opposition in 2022. She enters the NCAA Tournament on a seven-match win streak.
She will also represent UCF in the 2022 NCAA Singles Championship. The junior earned an automatic bid as she was the highest ranked player in the AAC. She is currently ranked No. 116 in the nation..
Levashova landed on her second straight AAC All-Conference Team with the selection and her third All-Conference Team total as she was named to the All-WCC Singles First Team and All-WCC Doubles Second Team in her freshman season with Pepperdine.
No. 21 UCF will square off against No. 40 Alabama in the opening round of the NCAA tournament at 10 a.m. ET on Friday, May 6 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. No. 64 Stetson and No. 12 Miami will face off next, with the winners of each match advancing to play each other in the second round at 1 p.m. ET on May 7.
