ORLANDO – The American Athletic Conference announced its 2021-22 men's golf conference awards on Tuesday and two UCF golfers were named to the All-Conference team as unanimous selections in seniors Teddy Tetak and Johnny Travale.
While this is the second straight year Travale has been unanimously tabbed All-Conference, the award marks the first for Tetak in his career.
"We are extremely proud to have both Johnny Travale and Teddy Tetak as unanimous All-AAC Selections," said head coach Bryce Wallor. "Both Johnny and Teddy are extremely talented players that continue to improve on the golf course, and earning this recognition from every coach in The American goes to prove that their future is very bright in the game of golf."
Travale has led the charge for UCF this season with a team-low 70.72 scoring average. The Hamilton, Ontario native was the Knights' top finisher at five of 10 events, including winning it all at the Hartford Hawks Invitational back in September with a line of 69-72-64=205, -11. His final round of 8-under-par 64 in the event is tied for the fourth lowest 18-hole score in UCF history and his 205(-11) total is also tied for the sixth lowest 54-hole total in program history.
Tetak has also been a force for the Knights this season, averaging a 71.04 scoring total, good for second on the team. The Limbach, Slovakia native was UCF's top finisher at the AAC Championship in April, shooting a team-low 210(-6) to finish tied for seventh. On the year, Tetak posted four top-20 finishes and led UCF in three events.
Travale, Tetak and the rest of the team will await their fate following the NCAA Men's Golf Selection Show, which airs on Wednesday, May 4 at 4:00 p.m., to determine whether they will play in the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will air live on The Golf Channel.
