ORLANDO – UCF head coach Sytia Messer has announced the signing of three new members to the women's basketball team.
"I am excited about the additions to our team," Coach Messer said. "I believe each player brings a different type of experience, and addition of their experience is what it takes for us to be successful at UCF. I can't wait to go to work with this group!"
Anzhane' Hutton, Tiani Abrams and Bryana Hardy join the Knights ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
Anzhane' Hutton
Junior | Forward | 6-0
Dallas, Texas | Cedar Hills HS/Howard
Anzhané Hutton was a First Team All-MEAC selection in 2022, averaging 10.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game during her sophomore season at Howard. The Dallas native was named the 2021 MEAC Rookie of the Year after averaging 11.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest during her freshman campaign.
Hutton was named the conference's Player of the Week three times and Defensive Player of the Week twice during the 2021-22 season. She helped Howard to the MEAC tournament championship and the program's first NCAA Tournament win. Hutton was also named to the 2021 Black College Sports Network (BCSN) All-America First Team. At Cedar Hills High School, she was an All-State All-Academic scholar and received All-Academic honorable mention.
Hutton on why she chose UCF:
"Coach Messer has a winning reputation and has been coaching with a few greats. I wanted to be part of a new and winning era all while being in the beautiful tropics of Florida."
Tiani Abrams
Freshman | Guard | 6-1
Vista, Calif. | Rancho Buena Vista HS
Tiani Abrams score over 1,000 career points at Rancho Buena Vista High School. She ranks in the top five in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals. She also helped Rancho Buena Vista to the California Interscholastic Federation's DIII championship game.
Abrams on why she chose UCF:
"I chose UCF because I liked what the school had to offer. I liked the coaching staff, go along with the girls and just liked the all-around environment of the campus and team."
Bryana Hardy
Freshman | Forward | 6-2
Lovejoy, Ga. | Lovejoy HS
Bryana Hardy helped Lovejoy High School to its first Georgia Class AAAAAA girls basketball state basketball championship since 2018. She registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the title game. She grabbed 500 career rebounds.
Hardy on why she chose UCF:
"I chose UCF because of the family-based environment, so I'll always feel like I'm at home. There's a good basketball history there, so I feel like I'll contribute a lot in the future. The coaches reminded me of my high school coach – he was so dedicated to us working hard and it paid off. 'Everybody has the talent, but the ability takes hard work.'"
