UCF Ready for NCAA East Preliminary Round

East Preliminary Round Information

ORLANDO – The UCF track and field team begins action at the 2022 NCAA East Preliminary Track and Field Championships on Thursday in Bloomington, Indiana.
 
The women's events are slated for Thursday and Saturday at the Haugh Track and Field Complex at Indiana University.
 
On the track, UCF will compete in the first round on Thursday. The top three from each heat, plus the next six times advance to Saturday's quarterfinal. On Saturday, the top three times from each heat plus the next three times advanced to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
 
For the field events, the top 12 from each event punch their ticket to Eugene.
 
UCF opens action Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. On the track, Rayniah Jones and Selena Wright compete in the 100-meter hurdles while Jasmine Scott-Kilgo and Brittany Floyd compete in the long jump.
 
Charlotte Crook runs the 1500-meter at 2:30 p.m. and Ciara Holback competes in the 100-meter dash at 3 p.m. The 400-meter dash that features Latasha Smith begins at 3:25 p.m.
 
Selena Wright takes to the track again on Thursday as she competes in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles at 4:20 p.m. Beyonce Defreitas rounds out Thursday action in the first round of the 200-meter dash at 4:45 p.m.
 
The Knights begin Saturday action at 1 p.m. with Adrienne Adams in the discus. Natalia Madison competes in the high jump at 2:30 p.m. Kiara Lee, Jasmine Scott-Kilgo and Asherah Collins compete in the triple jump at 6 p.m.
 
On the track, the 4x1 relay is slated for a 5 p.m. start. The top three relays from each heat, plus the next three best times qualify for the championship in Eugene.
 
Quarterfinal track action begins at 5:15 p.m. with the 1500m. The East Preliminary Round concludes at 8:45 p.m. with the 4x4 relay.
 
As UCF seeks to send Knights on to the outdoor championship for the third straight year and multiple Knights for the second straight year. (All spring championships were canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)
 
At least one Knight will represent the Black and Gold at the finals site.  Brittany Floyd earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship site as she ranks 22nd in the heptathlon. The top 24 decathlon and heptathlon scores in the nation automatically advance to Eugene.
