CLEARWATER, Fla. – * Updated 9:25 p.m. * UCF Baseball will play Memphis on Friday afternoon for a spot in the semifinals. The Tigers took game one this tournament from the Knights 7-6, sending UCF to the losers bracket early.
* Updated 12:36 a.m. * UCF Baseball will play Wichita State on Wednesday afternoon in an elimination game. The Knights scored 32 runs against the Shockers in Kansas earlier this season, including a 16-12 victory in the middle game.
UCF Baseball kicks off the 2022 American Conference Tournament on Tuesday afternoon as the No. 2 seed in Clearwater, Florida. The Knights will be the designated home team against the No. 7 seeded Memphis Tigers, with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
Last time these two teams met UCF defeated Memphis to take the series, scoring 28 runs in the final two games. The Tigers defeated UCF on Friday 6-1, before the Knights run-ruled Memphis on Saturday 13-3. The victory was Greg Lovelady's 300thcareer win.
On Sunday, UCF defeated Memphis 15-6, behind a 10-run first inning, highlighted by the Andrew Sundean pine tar incident. Last season in the AAC tournament, UCF defeated Memphis 17-1 to advance to a pair of games against ECU.
