Mancha, Cody Named to NFCA All-Region Teams

ORLANDO – After two phenomenal campaigns during the 2022 slate, Gianna Mancha and Jada Cody of the UCF softball team have been named to NFCA All-Region squads. Mancha was named to the First team while Cody was slotted on the Second Team.

Mancha is in the midst year, setting personal bests in nearly every category possible. She was the go-to arm for the Knights this season, appearing in 35 games and posting a 1.70 ERA. She has reached the 20-victory mark for the first time in her career and is 21-3, putting her in a tie of 11th on UCF's single-season wins list. The fifth-year player and third-year Knight has tossed 14 complete games with seven solo shutouts and two saves. She has rung up 172 batters, already 33 more than her best in a campaign. She is a 0.09 ERA points away from jumping back into the single season list in UCF's record book. Mancha has had a brilliant three seasons as a Knight and is top 10 in wins, complete games, shutouts, strikeouts, saves, innings pitched, ERA, strikeouts per seven innings and lowest batting average against.

The All-Region nod is the second in Gianna's career as a Knight and is her first on the First Team. She was listed on the Third Team last season. Mancha was named First Team All-Conference earlier this season in The American and was a two-time Pitcher of the Week in the league. By being named First Team All-Region, Mancha will qualify for a chance to be named an All-American. Currently, Shelby Turnier is the only Knight to be named an All-American in program history.

Cody was unanimously named First Team All-Conference this season and was her second trip to the squad. She has been nothing short of outstanding this season, leading the team in batting average (.369), home runs (12), RBI (69), doubles (15) and OPS (1.130). She may be having one of the best seasons a UCF batter has ever had after passing Stephanie Best for the single-season RBI record, which was 66 set back in 2003. Not only is Cody on the RBI top 10 list in a single season, but she also falls into the top 10 in batting average, home runs, total bases and sacrifice flies. Cody has played all over the diamond for the Knights this season, starting 27 games at catcher, 21 at third base, seven in left field, and one at second base.

This is the second time that Cody has been named to an All-Region team as she was named to the Third Team in 2021.
