NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Another solid season is in the books for the UCF men's golf team as the Knights missed the cut to advance to the NCAA National Championship on Wednesday. UCF finished in ninth place at the New Haven regional with scores of 276-282-296=854(+14).
No. 17 Wake Forest took home the team title at the regional after shooting 814(-26) to secure its spot in the national championship in Scottsdale, Arizona from May 27 – June 1. No. 5 North Carolina, No. 8 Texas Tech, UNF and Georgia Southern rounded out the top five teams that will also advance. As the low individual not on an advancing team, VCU's Adrian Vagberg will also move on to the national championship.
UCF leader's Johnny Travale and Egor Eroshenko both closed out the regional tied for 31st at 212(+2). After a slow start that saw him shoot 5-over 39 on the front nine, Eroshenko locked it to close out the day as the sophomore hit par or better on the back nine to finish the final round at 3-over 73.
Senior Clement Charmasson posted a 4-over 74 on Wednesday to bring his total to 217(+7), good for 48th, while senior Teddy Tetak fell to 43rd after a 77(+7) final round brought his three-round score to 215(+5).
Rounding things out for the Knights, senior Luis Carrera shot 78(+8) in the last round of play to finish at 219(+9), placing him at 55 overall.
The Knights' appearance in the regional marked the 10th time that UCF has made it into the NCAA Tournament. On the season, the Knights posted five top-five finishes – the most since 2018-19 – including a win at the Hartford Hawks Invitational back in September.
