ORLANDO – The UCF Women's Golf team and head coach Emily Marron added another piece to its 2022-23 roster on Wednesday, announcing the signing of Laura Edmonds to the team.
Edmonds joins the Knights after a four-year stint at FGCU from 2018-22, where she was one of the most successful golfers in program history. She is FGCU's all-time leader with a career-low 73.58 average, and she set a program-record with five career rounds in the 60's before she even suited up in her senior season.
The Buenos Aires, Argentina native was named First Team All-ASUN in 2021-22 and 2019-20, picked up second team honors in 2018-19 and 2020-21, and was named to the ASUN All-Freshmen Team in 2018-19.
"Laura being a fifth-year player automatically brings experience to our lineup. She was a star at FGCU and knows how to go low," said Marron. "I can definitely see her making our lineup next year and making an impact on our program right away."
In 29 rounds in 2021-22, Edmonds led FGCU with a 73.38 scoring average and posted three top-10 finishes, including a pair of second-place efforts at the Jupiter Women's Invitational and the Pat Bradley Invitational. Her second-place finish at the Jupiter Women's Invitational was highlighted by shooting a season-low 206(-7). She also shot a 65(-7) in the first round of the Pat Bradley Invitational, which tied the FGCU school record.
In addition to holding the lowest career-scoring average at FGCU, Edmonds also owns the Eagles' lowest single-season scoring average at 72.94, which she set during her sophomore season in 2019-20.
Edmonds is a product of Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida. She emigrated from Argentina in September 2017. She joins incoming freshman Pimpisa "Sandwich" Sisutham and recent addition Anna Nordfors as the latest addition to the Knights' 2022-23 incoming class.
