ORLANDO, Fla. – On Monday afternoon, the American Athletic Conference announced its Player and Pitcher of the Week recipients for the week of May 16. UCF's David Litchfield was named as the Pitcher of the Week and Tom Josten was named as the Player of the Week. The Knights finished the week 2-2, improving to 13-8 in AAC play. This is the fifth time that UCF has either swept the AAC Awards or had multiple players honored.
Tom Josten | 2B | R-Jr. | Palatine, Ill.
Tom Josten finished the week batting .429 in the four games started for the second basemen. Josten was 6-for-14 at the plate, scoring four runs and collecting four extra base hits (2 2B, 2 HR). He drove in eight RBIs this week, including four in the Knights 6-5 come from behind victory over the Cougars on Sunday. Josten also walked twice and was hit by a pitch.
David Litchfield | RHP | R-Sr. | Longwood, Fla.
David Litchfield had a stellar week out of the pen for the Knights, appearing in three games and posting a 1-0 record. Litchfield worked 4.1 innings out of the pen in Sunday's series clinching victory over Houston. He allowed one hit and struck out two, retiring 10-straight Cougars in route to the win. He worked a total of 7.2 innings this week, allowing one unearned run on two hits and striking out four.
UCF will be back in action this week hosting four games at John Euliano Park. The Knights will open up play this week against Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
