GREENVILLE, N.C. – The No. 17 UCF softball team is set to face South Florida in the American Athletic Conference Championship final. It's the first time that the War On I-4 will decide the conference tournament title in softball as part of The American.

UCF advanced to Saturday in dramatic fashion, winning 4-2 in eight innings over Houston. Savannah Adams was the hero of the game, launching a one-out two-run homer over the left-center field fence. It was the first home run of her career, making the celebration all the more fun.

Gianna Mancha tossed eight innings for the second time this season and third time in her career, striking out nine in her 14th complete game of the campaign. The last time she threw eight innings in a game was on the road at Houston on Apr. 22 in the Knights' 4-1 victory.

The Black and Gold will be playing for their fourth tournament title in program history, looking to add to their 2005, 2008 and 2015 crowns. This is the second straight season that UCF has been to The American final, as they fell to Wichita State 7-4 in 2021.

South Florida went through to the championship game with a 5-4 win over Wichita State. The Bulls held a 5-1 lead but saw the Shockers slowly creep closer on the scoreboard. Wichita State needed just one run in the bottom of the seventh to tie it but went down in order.
