Big Fourth Inning Downs Knights Friday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers (13-13, 1-3) used a four run fourth inning to defeat UCF (18-12, 3-1), 6-1 on Friday night in Memphis. UCF baseball walked a season high 10 batters on Friday night and left nine on base.
 
Memphis opened the scoring in the fourth, putting up four runs on three hits and leaving one on base. UCF answered with a run of their own in the fifth, as Alex Freeland grounded out to second base to score Ryan Taylor from third. 
 
The Tigers would add two more runs in the sixth to extend their lead to 6-1. William Saxton gave UCF 3.2 innings out of the bullpen on Friday, allowing seven hits and striking out five batters. Cameron Crain came on for the final 2.1 innings, allowing one hit and striking out four.

  • UCF pitchers walked a season high 10 batters on Friday night against Memphis, while striking out 11. 
  • Alex Freeland drove in the only run the Knights scored on Friday, grounding out to second to score Ryan Taylor. 
  • Connor Staine improved his scoreless inning streak to 32.2 innings after being removed in the third. He struck out two batters and allowed three hits.
  • UCF drew seven walks on the night.
