Knights in Eighth After Day One in Augusta

ORLANDO – The UCF men's golf team is in eighth place at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational in Augusta, Georgia after the team shot 579(+3) in the opening 36-hole day one.
 
The Knights began the day with a combined 287(-1) score in round one to sit tied for fourth halfway through the day, but fatigue began to settle in for the second half as the Knights were 4-over with a 292 score, dropping them to eighth place, 41 strokes back from first place Texas.
 
Following a tremendous, 5-under 67 opening round of play (his second best round so far this season), UCF senior Johnny Travale turned in an 80(+8) in the second round, bringing his total to 147(+3), tying him with teammate Egor Eroshenko.

Tied for 17th place and leading the team is senior Teddy Tetak. The Limbach, Slovakia native opened even at 72 before delivering a 3-under 69 to crack the top-20 with a 141(-3) combined score.
 
Tetak is currently eight strokes back from leaders and Texas brothers Parker and Pierceson Coody. The individual winner of the event is granted an automatic exemption into a PGA Tour event.
 
Rounding things out for the Knights, senior Luis Carrera turned in a 76-73=149(+5) day one while senior Markus Braddlie finished with a line of 73-78=151(+7). Carrera is tied for 49th while Braadlie is tied for 59th.
 
The Knights will tee off in the final round of play on Sunday, teeing off hole one at 8:30 a.m along with Augusta and Mercer.
