Collins, Smith Sweep AAC Athletes of the Week

ORLANDO – The UCF track and field team swept the American Athletic Conference weekly awards for the first time since joining the league in 2014. Latasha Smith repeated as the Track Athlete of the Week while Asherah Collins was named Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Smith earned her second-straight track honor after posting a pair of podium finishes at the LSU Alumni Gold. She finished second and was the top collegiate finisher running a 52.64 in the 400-meter dash. She followed that with a personal best 23.17 to finish third in the 200-meter dash.
 
The West Palm Beach, Florida, native jumped up to 33rd on the NCAA outdoor performance list in the 200m and 19th in the East region. Her 200m time also puts her second on The American's performance list this season.
 
Collins collected her first league honor after a second place showing in the triple jump in Baton Rouge. She jumped a season-best 42-9.75/13.05m at the LSU Alumni Gold.
 
Her mark puts her third among The American performers this season. She also sits 14th in the East Region and 32nd nationally.
 
Five Knights have now earned a weekly league accolade during the 2022 outdoor season, marking the most to be recognized by The American in a single season.
 
UCF returns to action for one final meet before the conference championship. The Knights head to Jacksonville for the UNF Invitational April 29-30.
