UCF Falls 3-4 to USF

TULSA, Okla.  – No. 44 UCF men's tennis team fell to No. 41 South Florida in quarterfinals of the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championships by a score of 3-4 on Friday, April 22, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
 
South Florida was able to clinch the doubles point. However, Lleyton Cronje and Alan Rubio came out strong to defeat Chase Ferguason and Ivan Yatsuk by a score of 6-3. But No. 28 Trey Hilderbrand and Bogdan Pavel fell to No. 32 Bruno Oliveira and Rithvik Bollipalli, 4-6, while JC Roddick and Cooper White couldn't hold on, falling to Alvin Tudorica and Sergio Gomez Montesa, 4-6.
 
In singles, the Knights started with winning the first set on four courts and the match was decided on the final court.
 
Cooper White fell to Bruno Oliveira, 6-0, 6-2, but No. 83 Trey Hilderbrand topped Alvin Tudorica, 6-2, 6-4, and Lleyton Cronje defeated Ivan Yatsuk, 7-5, 6-4, tying the match at two all.
 
Bogdan Pavel then fell to Chase Ferguson, 1-6, 7-5, but JC Roddick tied it back up with a win over Sergio Gomez-Montesa, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1.
 
It came down to the final court where Alan Rubio was battling Antonio Muniz-Hildago in the third set, but Rubio fell 6-1, 3-6, 5-7.
