ORLANDO, Fla. – Jacksonville (19-15) baseball scored three runs in the third and never looked back, no-hitting UCF Baseball (21-16) over the final four innings to down the Knights 9-2. Jacob Marlowe was pegged with the loss, working three innings and allowing five runs.
UCF opened the scoring in the bottom of the second, as Ryan Taylor scored on a wild pitch to the backstop. Cole Russo battled through a full count to fist a single out to right field to score Pablo Ruiz from second and increase the lead to 2-0.
Jacksonville responded in the top of the third, scoring three runs to push the score to 3-2. They added two more in the fifth and a four spot in the seventh to extend the lead to 9-2, downing the Knights on Tuesday.
Ben Vespi worked two innings to open the ballgame this evening, allowing no hits and striking out one Dolphin. Julian Balzer pitched two innings to close out the ballgame, allowing one hit and striking out two batters.
