UCF Concludes Spring Season Undefeated

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF Volleyball team concluded its spring training on Saturday, April 16, and the Knights went undefeated.
 
The Knights were 7-0 this spring and only dropped two sets. UCF saw action against Santa Fe, Hillsborough, Florida Southern, Eckerd College and Stetson as well as full matches against Florida and Miami. 
 
"We were able to accomplish everything we needed to accomplish this spring," head coach Todd Dagenais said, "The freshmen got better and got to play a ton of points and those that didn't get as much playing time last year were able to get a wealth of playing time and experience.
 
"The focus this spring was on our weight training and conditioning since it's been two years since we could fully dedicate our time in spring training to do that and we noticed great advancement in the weight room. We know we had a lot of players who were tired with dead legs, but their competitive spirit never waned.
 
"We wanted to be careful with the health of McKenna, so she played limited roles in matches this spring, but we were able to rotate the outside hitters in her place and they got some wonderful experience against top-25 teams.
 
"It was great to finally see Amari on the court doing a great job and jelling with the team and I think we're going to be very deep in the middle next year, which is going to free up our outside hitters a great deal.
 
"I feel like we're as prepared as we can be heading into the summer where we polish off our strength and conditioning and turn it into explosive power and then get ready to attack another challenging preseason schedule heading into the defense of our conference championship last year.
 
"All our goals were met, we had strength gains, we stayed healthy minus some bumps and bruises along the way, and we are set up to be a very competitive team this fall."
