ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 46 UCF men's tennis team battled to the end but dropped its match to No. 40 South Florida by a score of 3-4 on Saturday, April 16, on Senior Knight from the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
South Florida took the doubles point as Quinn Snyder and JC Roddick fell to Alvin Tudorica and Sergio Gomez Montesa, 2-6, and No. 84 Lleyton Cronje and Cooper White dropped their match to Chase Ferguson and Ivan Yatsuk, 1-6.
But No. 36 Trey Hilderbrand and Bogdan Pavel took down their ranked opponent of No. 37 Rithvik Bollipalli and Bruno Oliveira by a score of 6-1.
One Lleyton Cronje fell to Ivan Yatsuk, 5-7, 3-6, but No. 90 Trey Hilderbrand put the Knights on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Alvin Tudorica.
JC Roddick then couldn't hold on as he fell, 3-6, 4-6 to Sergio Gomez Montesa as the Bulls led 3-1.
But Alan Rubio brought the energy back with a big win over Chase Ferguson, 6-3, 6-4 on his Senior Knight.
Bogdan Pavel tied it all up with a big, third set tiebreak win over Antonio Muniz, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(2).
It all came down to court six where Quinn Snyder was in a third set against Bruno Oliveira, but ultimately fell, 4-6, 7-5, 3-6.
