Brittany Floyd Named The American Field Athlete of the Week

ORLANDO – The American Athletic Conference named Brittany Floyd its Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon after her record-setting performance in Coral Gables.

The redshirt senior captured the heptathlon title, setting both the UCF and The American record with 5,643 points at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational.

The Columbus, Ga., native entered the final day in third place. She climbed into the top spot by winning the final three events setting a personal best in long jump (20-1/6.13m) and javelin (127-10/38.96m) along the way. Floyd also set personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles and shot put, and she never finished lower than third in an individual event in Coral Gables.

She ranks seventh on the NCAA outdoor performance list in the heptathlon and her long jump mark moved her into 37th nationally.

The Knights are back in action April 15-16, returning to Gainesville for the Tom Jones Invitational.
