ORLANDO, Fla. – On Monday afternoon, the American Athletic Conference announced its Player and Pitcher of the Week recipients for the week of April 11. UCF's Alex Freeland was named as the Player of the Week after his stellar week from both sides of the plate in Memphis. The Knights finished the week 2-2, improving to 5-1 in AAC play. This is the first time Alex Freeland has earned Player of the Week honors this season.

Alex Freeland posted a .429 average this weekend, after taking the day on in the midweek against FAU. Freeland posted six hits, scoring six runs for the Knights as they took the series from Memphis on Sunday afternoon. The Knights outscored Memphis 29-10 this weekend, with Freeland driving in 10 RBIs. He homered twice on Saturday, both from the right side, and tallied 14 total bases. He followed up his 4-for-5 performance and five RBIs on Saturday, with a 2-for-5 day driving in four RBIs. Four of Freeland's six hits were for extra bases, collecting two doubles and two home runs.
UCF will be back in action Tuesday as they hit the road to take on Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 from John Sessions Stadium.
