ORLANDO, Fla. – On Monday afternoon, The American Athletic Conference announced its Player and Pitcher of the Week recipients for the week of February 28. UCF's Connor Staine was named as the Pitcher of the Week after his seven-inning performance on Sunday against No. 2 Ole Miss. UCF Baseball has claimed the first three Pitcher of the Week awards in the American to start this season.

Connor Staine worked a career-high seven innings of two-hit shutout baseball against No. 2 Ole Miss on Saturday evening. Staine punched out a career-high 10 Rebel batters, before giving way to Chase Centala in the eighth. Staine was pegged with the no-decision, as the Knights went on to walk-off Ole Miss 1-0 in the bottom of the 12th. It is the second time a UCF pitcher has recorded 10 strikeouts this season and marks the third shutout of the season for the Knights.
UCF will be back in action tomorrow evening as they travel to Daytona Beach, Florida to play Benthune-Cookman. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Jackie Robinson Ballpark.
