ORLANDO, Fla. – UCF Baseball (15-10) is set to host USF Baseball (18-7) for the first edition of the War on I4 this weekend at John Euliano Park. The Knights currently lead the War on I4, 39-12, and can all but put the series away this weekend.
Head coach Greg Lovelady is sitting four wins away from career win number 300, as the Knights look to erase a bad memory of the AAC Championship game last year. UCF won six of the eight meetings in the regular season in 2021, making a run in the championship late.
The Knights will send Connor Staine back to the mound on Friday night for the opener, facing off against Orion Kerkering. Staine posts the best ERA in the country, posting a 0.00 ERA in his 24.2 innings of work. Kerkering enters play on Friday with a 4-1 record, posting a 2.06 ERA and striking out 51 batters.
