ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF women's tennis team earned a 6-1 win over Eastern Michigan on Thursday, March 3, in Orlando, Florida at the USTA National Campus.
Despite the disadvantage with only two doubles tandems, UCF was able to clinch the doubles point with a win on both courts.
On court one, Evgeniya Levashova and Marie Mattel got a quick win over Isabelle Popma and Vasavi Ganesan with a score of 6-1 while on court two Sophia Biolay and Nandini Sharma started down but came back to win, 6-4, over Prerna Vichare and Sabina Brickackova, clinching the doubles point.
In singles action, all five players picked up a win. On court five, Nandini Sharma cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Emma-Lou Pommiers while Sophia Biolay finished just after on court four also with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Vasavi Ganesan. The Knights led 3-1 with three courts left.
No. 61 Evgeniya Levashova clinched the matched after defeating Luisa Pelayo, 6-2, 6-1, on court one and seconds later, No. 114 Marie Mattel got the win over Sabina Brichackova on court four, 6-2, 6-2. The Knights led 5-1 with one court left to finish.
All eyes looked at court two as Noel Saidenova faced Prerna Vichare. Saidenova earned a quick 6-1 win in the first set before edging Vichare by a score of 7-5 to clinch the win in two sets.

The Knights prepare for two more matches at home this weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
Fans are encouraged to come out and support both the women's and men's tennis team on Saturday as the Knights host Michigan in a double header with the women's match at 12:00 p.m. and the men's beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Saturday's match will offer food trucks, games, and chalking as early as 11:30 a.m., autographs between 2:30-3:30 p.m. and a Free Kids' Clinic at 3:30 p.m. To sign up for the clinic, click here.
