ORLANDO – A record performance at the Knights Invite led Adrienne Adams to the American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Adams started the meet off with a record performance to win the discus. Her third attempt of the day landed at 17601/53.69m, which was not only a personal best, but also set the UCF record in the event. Adams broke LaKendra Thames' record 174-4/53.14m set int 2010. Her mark also gave her the event title and moved her up to eighth on the NCAA's outdoor performance list.
A native of Portmore, Jamaica, Adams collected her first Field Athlete of the Week honor. She has the top discus mark in The American this season and sits 14th on the NCAA outdoor performance list.
UCF is back in action this weekend as the Knights head to Gainesville for the Florida Relays.
