ORLANDO – The UCF track and field team opens the second portion of its season this weekend as the Knights being outdoor action hosting the Black and Gold Invitational at the UCF Track Complex.
The two-day meet begins on Friday morning with the field events. The women's javelin and discus kick off the meet at 11 a.m. Track action gets underway with the women's 400-meter hurdles at 5:30 p.m. The first day of action wraps with the men's 5000-meter run at 9:10 p.m.
Saturday's action starts at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer throw. The women's 4x100 relay opens action on the track at 12 p.m.
Spectators will be able to attend the Black and Gold Invitational but must remain in the stands and will not be allowed on the track level.
UCF makes the switch to outdoor action after winning its first American Athletic Conference indoor championship since 2017. The Knights set an AAC record for points at the championship meet and won seven gold medals in Birmingham. Rayniah Jones and Latasha Smith qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship and earned Second Team All-America honors in the 60-meter dash and 400-meter dash, respectively. Jones also added another First Team All-America accolade to her resume with a third place finish in the 60-meter hurdles.
