ORLANDO – The UCF rowing team opens its 2022 campaign on Friday, welcoming Jacksonville and UConn to Lake Pickett.
The Varsity Eight opens racing at 10 a.m. The Second Varsity Eight is followed by the Varsity Four, then the Second Varsity Four. The Third Varsity Eight rounds out the racing slate at the UCF Intercollegiate Rowing Center.
Following Friday's race, UCF heads to Virginia for the UVA Invite on March 26.
The Knights are back in the state for the Sunshine State Invite April 1-2 at Nathan Benderson Park. UCF is quite familiar with the Sarasota course, which has hosted the Sunshine State Invite for the last five years. Nathan Benderson Park will once again play host to the NCAA Rowing Championships in May. UCF and Sarasota hosted the 2018 and 2021 championships.
UCF returns to Lake Pickett to host Miami on April 15 before heading to North Carolina for the Lake Wheeler Invite. Duke and North Carolina will host the two-day regatta on Lake Wheeler April 22-23.
The Knights head to Iowa for one final outing before the conference meet. UCF joins Minnesota, Oregon State, USC, Wisconsin and the Hawkeyes for the Iowa Invite on April 29.
The Black and Gold seek their sixth league title in the last eight years when the squad returns to Oak Ridge, Tenn., on May 15. Melton Lake served as the host of the 2021 championship where the Knights finished as the league's runner-up.
The 2022 NCAA Championships take place May 27-29 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla.
