ORLANDO – After leading the UCF women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Briar's Creek Invitational, Knights' sophomore Jess Baker picked up her first career American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week award, the conference announced on Wednesday.
"Jess has been working hard and is starting to peak at the right time," said head coach Emily Marron. "I am so proud of her perseverance and know she will continue to grow and be a big part of our success heading into the postseason."
Baker led all Knights at the Briar's Creek Invitational earlier in the week, tying for eighth place overall after posting a 75-69-72=216(E) scoring line over three rounds. She tied for third in the tournament field with 12 birdies and a 2.83 stroke average (-2) on par 3s at Briar's Creek during the week. The Newcastle, England native owns a 73.95 scoring average to this point in the season.
The Knights will enjoy the rest of the month of March off from competition before gearing up for the final stretch of the season when they head to Macon, Georgia for the Brickyard Collegiate from April 4-5 before flying out to Pinehurst, North Carolina for the American Athletic Conference Tournament from April 17-19.
