Trio of Knights Propel Women's Golf to Fourth Place Finish

ORLANDO – Three Knights finished within the top 20 or higher to help the UCF women's golf team to a fourth-place overall finish at the Briar's Creek Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

UCF closed out the second round of play Tuesday morning at 292(+4) and posted the same total in the final round to finish 23 strokes back from leaders Campbell (853, -11). Meanwhile, Boston College's Nathalie Irlbacher posted the lowest individual total with a 211(-5).

UCF sophomore Jess Baker, junior Tunrada Piddon and freshman Zoe Allaux paved the way for the Knights with top 20 finishes in the event. Baker posted the lowest score of the bunch at 216(E) after finishing the final round with a 72(E). She closed out the event tied for eighth place out of 96 golfers.

Piddon finished tied for 13th with a 218(+2) score after shooting 3-over 75 on Tuesday, and Allaux's 2-under 70 final round firmly placed her tied for 18th place with a 220(+4) final score.
 
Sophomore Camille Banzet finished tied for 36th with a 225(+9) score, while graduate-student Ana Laura Collado shot back-to-back rounds at 7-over 79 to close the event with a 234(+18) score, tying her for 88th place.

The Knights will take the rest of the month of March off from competition before gearing up for the final stretch of the season when they head to Macon, Georgia for the Brickyard Collegiate from April 4-5 before flying out to Pinehurst, North Carolina for the American Athletic Conference Tournament from April 17-19.
