ORLANDO, Fla. – On Monday afternoon, The American Athletic Conference announced its Player and Pitcher of the Week recipients for the week of March 7. UCF's Connor Staine was named as the Pitcher of the Week after his seven-inning complete game performance against UNF in the second game of the double header. This is the four consecutive week that a UCF pitcher has earned the award and the second consecutive week that Staine has earned it.
Connor Staine | Right-Handed Pitcher | R-So. | Branchburg, New Jersey
A week removed from tying a career-high with seven innings pitched and two hits allowed, Connor Staine did it again, working a complete seven inning game against UNF. Staine punched out seven UNF batters and kept his ERA at a 0.00. The righty has now worked 22.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs this season. He has fanned 27 and is a perfect 2-0 in games that he factored into the decision.
UCF will be back in action Wednesday evening as they host the University of Miami. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. from John Euliano Park.
