JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – UNF (6-11) scores four runs in the bottom of the eighth to defeat UCF (11-5) 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville. Chase Centala was pegged with the loss, falling to 1-1 on the season, allowing four runs on back-to-back hits.
Hunter Patteson pitched another stellar performance, working seven innings of four-hit baseball, tying his career-high with 10 strikeouts for the second time this season. The game was scoreless through seven, before UCF opened the scoring in the eighth.
Pablo Ruiz worked a full-count two-out at bat, singling through the left side to score Riley Wash and Michael Brooks. Chase Centala entered the game in the eighth allowing four runs to UNF.
The Knights had two-on and one-out in the ninth, before Brooks lined into a double play to third to end the game. UCF will shift focus to the midweek, where they welcome the University of Miami to town. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
