ORLANDO – The Knights are back on the golf course this weekend as head coach Bryce Wallor's UCF men's golf team is in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina gearing up for the General Hackler Championship, hosted by Coastal Carolina, from March 13-14.
The Black and Gold will open play on Sunday with 36 holes of competition before finishing out with an 18-hole final round on Monday at the par-72, 7,333-yard Dune Golf and Beach Club. Fans can follow along with scores live on golfstat.com here.
The 15-team field at the event includes UCF, No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 18 Auburn, host school Coast Carolina, East Tennessee State, UNCG, North Florida, NC State, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia, Louisville, Kent State, Liberty and fellow American Athletic Conference foe ECU.
The Knights finished tied for 11th at the event in 2021 after shooting a combined 897(+33).
Wallor will roll out a lineup consisting of Johnny Travale, Jonah Leach, Teddy Tetak, Egor Eroshenko and Luis Carrera, with Nicholas Estrada competing as an individual in the General Hackler Championship. Full qualifying information for the event can be found below.
The plan is for the Knights to tee off at 7:40 a.m. ET on hole 10, although impending weather in the Myrtle Beach area may affect start times. Stay tuned to the UCF Men's Golf social media accounts for the latest information.
QUALIFYING INFORMATION
- Johnny Travale – will play in the first spot in the lineup at the General Hackler Invitational as a result of finishing 2nd place at the Isleworth Collegiate during the fall. The top 25 finish earned him an exemption into this event.
- Jonah Leach – will play in the second spot in the lineup at the General Hackler Championship as a result of finishing 21st place at the Coral Creek Club Invitational. The top 25 finish earned him an exemption into this event.
- Teddy Tetak – will play in the third spot in the lineup at the General Hackler Championship as a result of finishing third in the three-round qualifier with a score of -1.
- Egor Eroshenko – will play in the fourth spot in the lineup at the General Hackler Championship as a coaches' selection. Egor finished fourth in the three-round qualifier with a score of +4.
- Luis Carrera – will play in the fifth spot in the lineup at the General Hackler Championship as a coaches' selection. Luis has the third best tournament season scoring average on the team (72.4) and a World Golf Amateur Ranking of 322. His Competitive NCAA Record for the '21-22 season is 305-99-12
Individual Competing
Nicholas Estrada will compete as the individual at the General Hackler Championship as a coaches' selection. Nick finished fifth in the three-round qualifier with a score of +8.
