ORLANDO – For the second week in a row, Rayniah Jones was named the American Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Jones won her heat to advance to the 60-meter final on Saturday at the Charlie Thomas Invitational. She turned in the fastest 60-meter dash in the preliminaries, just a hundred of a second off her personal best, to advance to the finals. She improved her mark in the final, blazing to the 60m title in 7.23 at the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
The Miami, Florida, native is tied for ninth on the national indoor performance list in both the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles. She holds the top mark in both events on The American's performance list.
Jones collected her second conference honor of the indoor season and the third for the Knights. Her back-to-back recognition marks the first for a Knight since Anne-Marie Blaney earned consecutive weekly honors during the 2017 indoor campaign.
UCF returns to action on Feb. 11, returning to Clemson for the Tiger Paw Invitational.
