UCF Charges Past Arkansas, 4-1

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  – The UCF men's tennis team charged past No. 37 Arkansas on Sunday, February 27, by a score of 4-1 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, ending its six-match road stretch on a high note.
 
The Knights set the tone early after clinching the doubles point in another tiebreaker.
 
No. 30 Lleyton Cronje and Bogdan Pavel grabbed the first win on court one over Alex Reco and Nico Rousset with a score of 6-4. But JC Roddick and Quinn Snyder on court three were unable to overcome Jacob Sweeney and Hunter Harrison, falling 3-6.
 
Yet again, the doubles point came down to court two as Trey Hilderbrand and Cooper White were battling No. 47 Adrien Burder and Melvin Manual. The match went to a tiebreak and the Knights held momentum, winning by a score of 7-6(3) to clinch the doubles point and set the tone of the match.
 
In singles action, JC Roddick took on Melvin Manuel on court five but fell 2-6, 1-6 as the Razorbacks tied the match one all. But UCF was looking strong after Alan Rubio defeated No. 119 Oscar Pinto Sansano on court four, 6-3, 6-2, to take back the lead.
 
Then Quinn Snyder showed up big on court six as he held off Jacob Sweeney by a score of 7-5, 6-4 to give the Knights the  3-1 lead.
 
Bogdan Pavel was battling Adrien Burdet on court three, but Pavel got the edge to get the two-set win in tiebreak fashion, winning with a score of 6-4, 7-6(4) while also clinching the match for the Knights.
 
The remaining two courts were holding strong in third sets but went unfinished as Lleyton Cronje was facing No. 38 Alex Reco, 6-2, 1-6, 4-5 and No. 55 Trey Hilderbrand was fighting Nico Rousset, 5-7, 6-5, 3-2.
 
UP NEXT
The Knights finally return home next weekend to face Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, March 4, and Michigan on Saturday, March 5.
