ORLANDO – The UCF women's golf team wrapped up play in the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Florida on Tuesday, finishing ahead of some of the top programs in the nation as UCF shot 863(-1) to place fifth.
At fifth place, the Knights outscored No. 3 South Carolina (871, +7), No. 6 Arkansas (878, +14), No. 7 Florida (870, +6), No. 17 Auburn (871, +7), No. 15 Baylor (882, +18) and No. 19 Duke (882, +18), just to name a few.
"What a big-time performance for us this week. This is the strongest field we will see all year and we proved we can compete against anyone," said head coach Emily Marron. "Tournaments like this are huge confidence boosters and will serve us well the rest of the spring and into postseason"
After tying the UCF record for lowest round with a 7-under 65 score in round two, UCF leader Tunrada Piddon turned in a 2-over 74 final round to finishing tied for fifth place among individuals with a 211(-5) total.
Freshman Zoe Allaux continued to build on a phenomenal start to her career, finishing tied for 14th in the tournament after a strong, 4-under 68 round three score moved her to 216(E) overall.
Sophomore Camille Banzet and senior Alysaa Lamoureux also finished in the top 20 in the event with 218(+2) scores. Banzet was even with par in round three while the veteran Lamoureux came in at 1-under 71.
Finally, Jess Baker shot 78(+6) in round three, brining her three-day total to 233(+17), tying her for 76th place.
