CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 19 UCF women's tennis team couldn't overcome No. 21 Miami Hurricanes on Sunday, February 20, falling with a score of 5-0 in Coral Gables, Florida.
The Canes come out strong to clinch the doubles point.
On court three, Noel Saidenova and Anique Kattenberg fell to Isabella Pfennig and Audrey Boch-Collins, 0-6, while Nandini Sharma and Sophia Biolay fell to No. 50 Maya Tahan and Diana Khodan by a score of 3-6 on court two, giving Miami the doubles point.
Evgeniya Levashova and Marie Mattel were making a comeback against No. 43 Eden Richardson and Daevenia Achong but the match went unfinished at 4-5.
In singles action, Noel Saidenova first fell to Daevenia Achong on court two, 6-1, 6-2 and then shortly after Anique Kattenberg dropped her match on court six to Diana Khodan, 6-0, 6-3, giving Miami a 3-0 lead.
The Knights kept fighting, but Nandini Sharma was edged out on court five against Maya Tahan with a score of 1-6, 7-6, as the Canes clinched the match, 4-0.
At the same time court three finished as No. 121 Marie Mattel fell to No. 92 Isabella Pfennig, 6-3, 2-6, 2-6.
On court one, No. 48 Evgeniya Levashova was facing No. 89 Eden Richardson and forced a third set, but the match went unfinished at 4-6, 6-4, 0-0. Sophia Biolay's match against Audrey Boch-Collins on court four also went unfinished 4-6, 4-5.
