Knights Add Indiana Transfer Kari Zumach

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF volleyball team added another member to the 2022 roster as the team announced the addition of transfer Kari Zumach on Friday.

Kari Zumach, who is a six-three right-side hitter from Buffalo, Minnesota, comes to UCF from Indiana University, where she spent the past three seasons playing for the Hoosiers.

"Kari has valuable experience competing in the toughest volleyball conference in the nation," head coach Todd Dagenais said, "She has overcome many things in her life and her career, which makes her a very mature and experienced addition to our team.

"I know she can't wait to come in and compete for an opportunity to make the program and the team better. She fits in with the team extremely well with her personality and adds a little more Minnesota flair to our locker room."

As a senior in 2021, Zumach played in 26 matches for the Hoosiers, notching 107 kills, 133 points, 40 digs and 41 blocks. She was named to the Top Dawg Challenge All-Tournament team and tied her career-high nine kills twice and career-high five blocks.

Zumach did not play during the 2020-21 season due to injury, but in 2019, Zumach played in 13 matches as a sophomore where she recorded 49 kills, 23 blocks, and 21 digs.

As a true freshman, Zumach played for Creighton where she was a two-time freshman of the week, Big East Conference tournament champion and true conference champion. She averaged 1.84 kills and 0.89 blocks per set on a .308 hitting percentage.

"The coaches provide a healthy and supportive atmosphere for their athletes to learn and grow on and off the court," Kari Zumach said, "The girls are welcoming and amazing to be around. UCF is a winning program that I can't wait to be a part of."

Zumach is the fifth addition to the team, joining Abby Hansen (MB/Oregon), Emily Wilson (OH/San Diego) and incoming freshmen Emma Truluck (OH/DS/Ocala, Florida) and Abby Schomers (Setter/Omaha, Nebraska).
