UCF Drops Match to Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  – The UCF men's tennis dropped its in-state rival match to Florida State while on the road with a score of 3-4 on Friday, February 11, in Tallahassee, Florida.
 
The Knights started off strong to secure the doubles point after Trey Hilderbrand and Cooper White defeated Andreja Petrovic and Youcef Rihane on court two, 6-3, and just seconds later, JC Roddick and Kento Yamada topped Josh Jarpenschif and Maks Silagy on court three by a score of 6-4 to clinch the doubles point.
 
No. 41 Lleyton Cronje and Bogdan Pavel were battling on court one against Sebastian Arcila and Loris Pourroy, but the match went unfinished at 5-5.
 
In singles play, No. 50 Trey Hilderbrand fell to Loris Pourroy on court one, 3-6, 2-6, tying the match at one all. But then Lleyton Cronje then Sebastian Arcila on court two by a score of 6-3, 6-2 as the Knights went up 2-1.

Shortly after, Alan Rubio fell to Andreja Petrovic 0-6, 4-6, on court three, as the Seminoles tied the match back up two all.
 
A win on court four helped give the Knights an edge as Bogdan Pavel topped Richard Thongoana with a score of 6-4, 6-2.
 
JC Roddick's match went to three full sets but ultimately fell to Youcef Rihane by a score of 6-1, 3-6, 1-6, as the match was tied again three all.
 
It came down to court six as Kento Yamada faced Josh Karpenschif but was unable to hold on as he dropped the match 6-2, 4-6, 0-6, which was the clincher for Florida State.
 
UP NEXT
The Knights will head over to Austin, Texas to take on No. 14 Texas on Sunday, February 13.
