ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF men's tennis team stays on the road for an in-state rival matchup at Florida State on Friday, February 11, and a match against No. 14-ranked Texas on Sunday, February 13.
 
The Knights have started with a tough schedule this season, taking on five highly ranked teams of No. 3 Florida, No. 8 Georgia, No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 14 Stanford, and No. 24 NC State.
 
For the first time this spring, the ITA released new singles and doubles and Trey Hilderbrand notched a top-50 ranking in singles at No. 50 while the dynamic duo of Lleyton Cronje and Bogdan Pavel earned a No. 41 ranking in doubles.
 
THE FIELD
THE SEMINOLES
Florida State is 6-2 overall and 5-1 at home this season, including four sweeps over Georgia Southern, South Alabama, Samford and UNC-Wilmington. Its only two losses came to No. 3 Florida in the ITA Kickoff Weekend Championship Match and in College Match Day, both my a score of 1-4.   
 
Florida State leads the all-time series over UCF 3-11, but the Knights won two of the last three meetings, including a 4-3-win last season.
 
THE LONGHORNS
No. 14 Texas is 4-3 overall with all three losses to highly ranked teams of No. 1 Florida, No. 2 Baylor, and No. 14 Arizona. The Longhorns swept both RV Columbia and Oregon in the ITA Kickoff Weekend to advance to ITA National Indoors next weekend.
 
Four Longhorns are ranked in singles with No. 57 Micah Braswell, No. 62 Pierre-Yves Bailly, No. 75 Richard Ciamarra, and No. 110 Cleeve Harper while two doubles teams are ranked as well with Ciamarra and Harper coming in at No. 15 and Eloit Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab are No. 35.
 
This will be the first time in program history the two teams will face each other in the dual season.
