#10 UCF Falls to #25 Auburn

ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 10 UCF women's tennis team fell to No. 25 Auburn with a score of 4-0 on Saturday, January 29, at the USTA National Campus.
 
The doubles point came all the way down to a tie break on court three, but the Tigers got the edge to clinch the doubles point.
 
On court one, Marie Mattel and Noel Saidenova faced Ariana Arseneault and Selin Ovunc, falling 6-4. But Evgeniya Levashova and Nadja Bay Christians evened it up with a big win over Georgie Axon and Adeline Flach on court two, 7-5.
 
All eyes turned to court three as Sophia Biolay and Valeriya Zeleva took on Carolyn Ansari and Madeline Meredith. The Knights fought hard but dropped a close match in a tie break as Auburn won the doubles point.
 
In singles, the Knights won the first set on three courts and was never giving up, but Noel Saidenova first fell to Adeline Flach by a score of 6-3, 6-2 on court four while No. 102 Marie Mattel dropped her match to No. 115 Carolyn Ansari on court three, 6-2, 6-4 as the Tigers led 3-0.
 
With four courts left to go, UCF was leading on three, but Ariana Arseneault of Auburn was able to secure the win over No. 64 Valeriya Zeleva on court two to clinch the match, 4-0.
 
The remaining singles were in the hunt but was unable to finished. No. 37 Evgeniya Levashova had the first set over No. 79 Selin Ovunc on court one, 6-3, 2-6, Sophia Biolay was up 6-3, 3-5, over Georgia Axon and Nandini Sharma led over Yu Chen, 6-3, 3-4.
 
UP NEXT
The Knights will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Virginia on Friday, February 4, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
