ORLANDO, Fla. – The UCF women's tennis team cracked into the top 10 in the latest ITA Top-25 Team Poll, earning its highest ranking this season at No. 10, the ITA announced on Wednesday.
UCF moved up one spot from last week to reach the top ten and continues to be the highest-ranked Florida team in the poll.
The Knights are coming off a 4-3 win over Penn in their season opener at home last Saturday. The team came out strong and clinched the match at 4-0. Nandini Sharma picked up a pair of wins on the day in both doubles and singles. Sharma and Sophia Biolay dominated in doubles to win 6-0 while Sharma grabbed the first singles point on court six with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Penn.
UCF also has three singles and a pair of doubles ranked. Evgeniya Levashova leads with the No. 37 spot while Valeriya Zeleva ranks No. 64 and Marie Mattel is No. 102.
In doubles, Levashova and Zeleva rank 50th while Mattel and Nandini Sharma rank 55th.
The Knights now turn their attention to hosting the ITA Kickoff Weekend this week for the first time in program history. UCF opens the weekend on Friday against UC Santa Barbara before taking on either No. 25 Auburn or Arizona State on Saturday.
