ORLANDO – The UCF Athletics Association announced a partnership with Violet Defense on Tuesday. Violet Defense is an Orlando based company that uses UV disinfection to protect everyday spaces from harmful pathogens.
Violet Defense will be the Official Defender of Healthy Spaces for UCF Athletics throughout the year, including the new sponsor of the courtside club for UCF men's and women's basketball games at Addition Financial Arena.
"Sports teams across the globe are yet again faced with the reality of COVID-19 knocking players, and even entire teams, out of competition," said Terrance Berland, CEO of Violet Defense. "With our UV disinfection technology, we are not only able to tackle SARS-CoV-2, but other pathogens that threaten the health of athletes like MRSA and influenza to help teams create safer, healthier spaces in which to practice and play."
As part of the partnership, UCF will be installing Violet Defense's UV disinfection technology throughout the athletic facilities, including weight rooms, training areas, locker rooms, and the Garvey Center for Student-Athlete Nutrition. The technology will be programmed to automatically disinfect air and surfaces in these spaces each night.
