GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 14 UCF men's tennis team fell to No. 3 Florida, 0-7, on Sunday afternoon in Gainesville, Florida.
The Gators were able to grab the doubles point as Trey Hilderbrand and JC Roddick fell to Florida's duo of Abedallah Shelbayh and Duarte Vale, 6-1, on court two before the No. 51 tandem of Andres Andrade and Mattias Siimar defeated Alan Rubio and Kento Yamada, 6-3, on court three. Lleyton Cronje and Bogdan Pavel teamed up to face Sam Riffice and Ben Shelton, but the match went unfinished with Florida leading 5-4.
In singles on court five, JC Roddick took on No. 61 Mattias Siimar, but the match was retired as Siimar won 6-4, 3-0 (ret).
No. 16 Trey Hilderbrand went up against the defending national singles champion, Sam Riffice, on court one, falling 6-2, 6-3.
Alan Rubio then fell to Duarte Vale on court two by a score of 6-3, 6-3 as the Gators clinched the match 4-0.
Bogdan Pavel faced No. 79 Nate Bonetto on court six. Pavel put up a fight, but was edged out 7-6(3), 6-4.
Lleyton Cronje played Florida's No. 2 Ben Shelton on court three and after dropping the first set, 4-6, Cronje came back big in the second, 6-0, to force a third. Cronje tried to keep the momentum going but fell 6-3 in the third.
Kento Yamada went up against #107 Andres Andrade on court four while also forcing a third set, but was unable to hold as he fell 1-6, 6-2, 2-6.
