The Knights had 1.1 million more interactions in 2021 compared to 2020—trailing only Alabama, Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Michigan in research by SkullSparks.

Meanwhile, UCF finished 10th in percent change in interactions for 2021 compared to 2020, with the Knights producing an improvement of 133%. Ranking ahead of the Knights were Georgia Tech (first at plus-393%), Cincinnati, Houston, Pitt, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, Michigan State, North Texas and Washington State. UCF finished one spot ahead of Alabama (plus-128%).
UCF football accounts produced an additional 721,265 total impressions in 2021 for an improvement of 24% compared to 2020.
UCF coach Gus Malzahn ranked 10th nationally among FBS college head coach personal Twitter accounts in terms of interactions in the month of December 2021.
2021 at UCF included the hiring of new vice president and director of athletics Terry Mohajir and new head football coach Malzahn, the September announcement that UCF will be joining the Big 12 Conference—then six football victories in the Knights' last seven games, capped by a 29-17 Gasparilla Bowl triumph over Florida.
