ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 11 UCF men's tennis opens the 2022 dual match season at home against No. 8 Georgia on Monday, January 17, at the USTA National Campus. Admission to the 1:00 p.m. match is free.
 
The match will have live stats and will be live streamed.
 
UCF, the defending conference champion, starts the season with a new program best preseason ranking of No. 11 in the ITA Team Poll, beginning where it left off as the Knights concluded the 2021 season ranked 11th as well after a historic dual match season where the Knights won their first title as part of the American Athletic Conference and its fourth conference title in program history (2003, 2004, 2005, 2021). UCF then continued to the NCAA Tournament where it earned its first victory in the big dance in program history.
 
In the ITA end of fall rankings, Trey Hilderband earned his highest singles ranking of 16th. In doubles, Hilderbrand and Bogdan Pavel were ranked No. 22 while Hilderbrand and Lleyton Cronje also earned a top 50 ranking of 41.
 
THE FIELD
THE BULLDOGS
Georgia comes in ranked in the top 10 at No. 8 after concluding the 2021 season ninth. The Bulldogs went 17-7 overall and 8-4 in the SEC last season while advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament before falling to No. 3 Tennessee. Georgia also had three singles in the top 50 and two doubles in the top 20 to end the 2021 spring season.
 
Last season, the Knights and Bulldogs matched up for the first time in program history. Georgia clinched the match 4-2 in Athens.
 
Most recently, in the ITA end of fall rankings, Georgia was ranked seven times and the Knights are prepped to face No. 23 Philip Henning, No. 32 Hamish Stewart, No. 62, Trent Bryde, No. 110 Blake Croyder, and No. 119 Thomas Paulsell in singles and No. 21 Bryde and Henning and No. 47 Henning and Stewart in doubles.
