ORLANDO - The UCF cheer and dance teams advanced to the finals of the Division IA UCA National Championships on Saturday with impressive semifinal performances.
The cheer squad finished semifinal action with the top score heading into Sunday's final, recording a raw score of 94.7 and an event score of 94.2. UCF a top five that also includes Kentucky, South Florida, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.
The dance team advanced to the finals of the hip hop division with a seventh place score in the semifinals. UCF had a raw score of 102.3 and an event score of 88.9 to earn one of nine spots in the finals.
UCF aims to capture its fourth national championship in Division 1A Cheerleading on Sunday with an 8:45 p.m. performance at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
The dance team, which advanced to the hip hop finals for the first time since 2014, will compete in its finals competition at 12:30 p.m.
